About The Owners

Nucci's Gelato and More in Cool Springs is a family owned and operated business. Steve and Connie Hovis are the owners and along with their children and dedicated staff, run the business. It is truly a family operation. The Hovis' moved to Brentwood in 2004 from the Philadelphia area. They were hard-pressed to find gelato and Italian ice here and always took advantage of their trips home to treat themselves to these frozen desserts. The idea of opening an Italian cafe in Cool Springs originated on their trip in 2006. With over 100 possible flavors of gelato and over 30 possible flavors of Italian ice, plus Panini sandwiches, soups, salads, Italian coffee and other beverages, Nucci's is an Italian cafe where the Hovis family hopes people can break away from their busy day and relax and enjoy themselves.

The Italian Connection

While Hovis is arguably not an Italian name, Steve’s grandparents emigrated from Italy when they were 15 and 5 years old. His grandfather, Rocco Foglia, was from the Guardia Lombardi region and his grandmother, Mary DeCiancio was from the Calabria region. They met in Pittsburgh, married and had seven children. One of the children, Mary Foglia is Steve’s mother. Growing up, Steve was greatly influenced by his mother’s side of the family, especially when it came to family and food. This influence has led to the creation of Nucci’s.
